welcome to my blog: #onparr

Whomever I’m writing to, hi reader. Welcome to my blog… something I didn’t think I’d be writing in 2024. But here we are once again.

If you’ve been here before, you might remember the blog I had back in 2013 when I was a student at UCLA. I imagined I was a stylish Carrie Bradshaw-esque character, typing away from my tiny dorm room window (probably the same size as Carrie’s extremely expensive little studio in West Village), writing about college fashion tips, travel inspo, and of course book recommendations (my popular page). Honestly, there was a sense of freedom typing into a digital void. Blogging was more of a way for me to get my passions out on page rather than caring too much about who out there (if any) might be reading it. And I still feel the same way - I just miss writing and sharing what I love without any strings attached.

hi it’s me- chloe parr.

Working in a creative job, there are many perks. You get to do new things everyday and come up with ideas for a living. In the past ten years, I’ve worked on red carpets, traveled the world (Tokyo, pinch me), attended Fashion Weeks every year, met some of my idols (and crushes, I’m talking about you Harry Styles), and did things I’ve thought I’d only ever dream of (helicopter rides over Brazil, go-karting in Tokyo, producing a viral Festival, the list goes on). I love being a creative and I am passionate about what I do, but

Because I am brainstorming ideas, writing articles, and producing content as a career all day everyday, there is such a thing as creative burnout. What I mean by this is you get too tired or you’ve used up all your inspo already to create things outside of the 9 to 5 that are just for you. Sometimes you just need a break from your phone, and I needed a break from a creative outlet in a way. I felt mentally exhausted. Which is why I took a break from blogging for years.

But like I said…here we are once again. Last year I started writing again about fashion trends and sneakers and it ignited that same old passion of writing. I missed this medium and decided it was time to get back to it and start a new and improved ChloeParr.com.

revolving around the world

Welcome BACK. I’m calling this space #OnParr. I like the idea of saying you read something “on parr” but also that the content is so #OnParr.

I want to focus this blog on my passions and experiences (books, bridal!) and also what I’ve learned firsthand about fashion and beauty while working behind-the-scenes in the industries (tips, trends, recs). So while I don’t want to make this space about my personal life, I do think it’s important to know a little bit about the writer behind the words. A quick recap before we get to the good stuff:

If you don’t know anything about me well, hi I’m Chloe and I’m originally from Chicago. I went to school at UCLA and studied English Literature and Film Directing. I lived in Los Angeles for the past 8 years, where I worked at a lot of incredible places, producing content, directing video campaigns, and creating social media strategy for a long list of fashion and beauty brands, award shows, talent, and big brands (REVOLVE, FWRD, StockX, Viacom, Netflix to name a few).

I’ve now taken all the things I learned, know, and love and started my own creative studio called parrhaus. I’ve always wanted to start my own business for a long time (since maybe ever) and finally figured out my niche: blending my filmmaking skills with my writer POV and social media insight. It’s what I call “high-low content” - effortlessly blending elevated visuals & high quality production with social media strategy & meaningful storytelling to create content that really connects. Parrhaus is the epitome of that niche and it’s where I create exciting and engaging content and strategy for brands, talent, and influencers all over the world.

meet parrhaus: my new creative studio

So that’s a little about me. Now back to the good stuff, as promised. Outside of my career, I wanted to create an outlet where I could share my recommendations, tips, tricks, and passions in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle spaces. After working in fashion, beauty, and entertainment for the last 10+ years, I learned a lot from being behind-the-scenes and connecting with inspiring designers, artists, writers, editors, and industry insiders: from how to forecast trends to developing your own personal style, building an outfit, identifying upcoming brands and designers, beauty tips from makeup artists on set, cult products, analyzing runway collections, and more.

Along with fashion and beauty, I have been an avid reader and traveler since I could remember. As someone who grew up as a shy gal (if you know me now, you’d be shocked I know), bringing a book with me to family parties would be my excuse to sit in the corner, get lost in a new world, and not have to talk to anyone. I still identify as an introvert but now I’m more of an “extroverted introvert.” Thanks to my English major life back at UCLA, I learned to read very fast, so I can indulge in new books like no other. I’m excited to share all my reading recs with you again: from page-turning thrillers to of course the smutty romances we’re all (secretly or not so) addicted to.

And saving the best for last… On February 16, 2024 my best friend and the love of my life asked me to marry him (easiest YES ever!). He surprised me in our favorite place surrounded by all of our friends and family (who were secretly hiding out all week before the proposal and surprised me!). So I can’t wait to document all of my wedding planning journey - from finding THE dress, to curating my wedding design aesthetic, engagement photoshoot, styling all my bridal event looks , and all the tips + tricks I learn throughout the way!
